Expert Restaurant RecommendationsEven though Atla is from the same chefs behind Cosme in Flatiron and Pujol in Mexico City, this Noho Mexican spot doesn’t require a ton of advance planning or hundreds of dollars. The casual Mexican spot's shrimp taco alone has so many textures and flavors that it’ll make your brain buffer like it’s trying to download a movie on airplane wifi. Just don't pass on their chicken soup—simple and soul-curing, it might just be the best in the borough.

• 22/4/23If you are going to charge $24 for a bowl of chicken soup, the execution should be flawless. What I received was a bowl of lukewarm and inedibly salty broth, plus another bowl with the other ingredients. The other ingredients, which intentionally were delivered cold, were spectacular, but the lukewarm broth (and it is not even winter, so no excuses) was not warm enough to turn this dish into "soup." Very sad, with hot and slightly less salty broth, this dish could be wonderful. Guacamole also way too salty, but at least not inedible.
