love the bagels. nice & chewy. people hate on their house made cream cheese, but I LOVE it. definitely more tangy, and more whipped/different texture than Philadelphia, so just keep that in mind. the cream cheese is not "off" or bad, it's just their style, and it's wonderful on their chewy bagels.

If you want the newest hipster twist on a bagel, you would probably like this place and give it more stars than I did. If you are searching for an excellent NY style bagel, you will be strongly disappointed. This is a hockey puck, at best. The bagel's interior is extremely dense, reminding me of bread loaves I used to bake when I first started baking bread. As someone who has played around with bread-baking, I am near certain they need to add more gluten to their recipe.
I ordered cream cheese from Daily Driver and it absolutely is not the Philadelphia Cream Cheese variety that all New Yorkers use that defines the bagel experience. It reminds me of a more high-end cream cheese that I have purchased in boutique SF grocery stores. I don't like this type of Cream Cheese on my bagel, much preferring the Kraft Philadelphia variety.
House of Bagels is better. Boichick in Berkeley is #1.

I love the originality of this bagel. You can't go wrong with a BEC which was delicious. The poppy seed bagel with jalapeno cream cheese was also tasty. The fresh squeezed orange juice one of the best I've had!

it's not a soft bagel, and it's not warmed but it's really tasty. i would buy it again, but it can be cheaper for those flaws.

My FAVORITE Bagel spot in the City. Always polite when you walk in to pick up. Wish they would add the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese to the online menu!
