I ordered two breakfast tacos through DoorDash. The DoorDash experience and my delivery driver were both excellent.
I ordered the #1 Taco with Tender Belly bacon, scrambled eggs, and Monterey Jack cheese, along with the #4 Taco with chorizo, scrambled eggs, and Monterey Jack cheese. Unfortunately, the tacos themselves were disappointing.
I understand the concept of breakfast tacos and how the different ingredients are intended to work together to create a balanced flavor profile. In this case, however, the scrambled eggs, which made up most of the filling, had virtually no flavor. Even a small amount of salt or basic seasoning would have made a significant difference. It felt like the expectation was for the meat alone to flavor the entire taco.
The #1 taco contained only a single strip of bacon, while the #4 had a decent amount of chorizo. Even so, neither taco came together in a way that justified the price.
Overall, the value just wasn’t there. The ingredients may have been fresh, but the lack of seasoning and the portion of bacon left these tacos falling well short of expectations."

Red Pearl continues to be one of the most reliable spots in Birmingham for authentic Chinese flavors, and this visit was no exception. I ordered the salted crispy chicken with steamed rice, opting to leave off the jalapeños since I don’t do heat. The seasoning was milder than I expected “I anticipated a slightly saltier profile,” but the flavor was still enjoyable and paired well with the rice. The chicken wasn’t as crispy as usual, but the taste remained solid, especially after adding a touch of Cajun seasoning, which rounded it out perfectly.
My daughter ordered the beef rice noodles, which came out fresh and flavorful, consistent with Red Pearl’s standard. What keeps me coming back is the familiarity: the freshness, the taste, and the authenticity remind me of the Chinese food I grew up with in Los Angeles. For Birmingham, Red Pearl remains one of the closest experiences to true, traditional Chinese cooking. (only missing a star because I was expecting the chicken to be a little salty not extremely salty but at least some salt to it because that’s what was described). Considering is my first time trying this particular dish out, I had to be fair."

"Ordered the Eggwich with bacon on a garlic bagel! AMAZING! The bagel was. ginormous. I truly wasn't hungry at lunch because it was so much food, so it was great bang for your buck! Also, the flavor was fabulous! The garlic bagel was so delicious, the bacon was cooked to perfection, and the eggs were shaped just right for the bagel making it very easy to eat. Highly recommend and I'll definitely be putting this in my regular rotation!"
"They massively messed up my order. I tried to get a bagel with lox, capers, etc, but they just sent me a bagel with cream cheese. They also didn't include a sausage biscuit I ordered. They charged me full price for it all, of course. The bagel is also only okay, definitely not NY style. I would not order again. 14 dollars for a single average bagel with cream cheese is ridiculous."
