Kinka Sushi offers delicious dining and takeout to Petaluma, CA. Kinka Sushi is a cornerstone in the Petaluma community and has been recognized for its outstanding Sushi cuisine, excellent service and…
I chose this place because it had ocean trout on the menu. Which, of course, was wonderful, because it is Umi Masu, but the winning delicacy of the order was, by far, the truffle hamachi appetizer. My goodness... I'm a true foodie, and the perfectly delicate pairing on the ponzu, truffle, and cilantro (mine didn't have the traditional Jalapeño and it was a stroke of genius! As the truffle and the spice would have clashed too hard)... I have to say, that was one of the finer sushi dishes I have ever gobbled up (and I have eaten a lot of fine sushi).
For those wanting to make sashimi their main course, it would have been great to see them offer something like 5 pieces for $20 or something. Since sashimi only comes in two pieces, I ended up paying $30 for 6 pieces (and of course that didn't include any miso or salad). But this is just a suggestion for more low-carb meal options who don't want "the taster" route.
The seaweed salad is not your bright green stringlets with sesame and chili flakes that get caught on your teeth (though the dressing has the flavoring you are craving, the sea greens are a far fresher fare and we're a delightful surprise... all except the portion I suppose. Since I had never come to this place in person, I was expected a traditional seaweed salad (which uses so much oil, it is easy to share). I would have gotten two of these for me and my dinner date had I known how delicate it would be.
A dragon roll, to me, is a nice combination of fresh and cooked ingredients, but this roll was just okay. I like the brown rice, but I would have preferred more highlights of the "fresh" elements (like more cucumber crunch, and sliced avocado/fresh fish on top to give it that 'wow'. But it was certainly hearty and the one generously portioned item that allowed our bellies to fill as well as our pallets to dance. I can't wait to come back here to try more!

Terrible! Smelled fishy. My tempura was over cooked and super greasy. My nigiri and my roll the rice was all brown. My only guess is they saturated a roll and it bled out into my sashimi and my nigiri. Which by the way, had fish stacked on top of each other. I wish I could add photos to show you how bad it it is.
Tempura should be a light golden color. Not brown and not saturated with grease.
Sashimi shouldn't be oily and dry at the same time, nor smelly fishy.
Sauces should never saturate even the riced soaked through to the center.
I spent 60 without driver tip for myself. I'm going to call them too. Soo bad and for the prices they are charging, I expected better.
I'm certain that the good reviews come from roll only people.
Stay away!
