We’ve been ordering from The Boiling Crab for quite some time, and there’s a reason we keep coming back! The shrimp is consistently delicious, always tastes fresh, and is cooked to perfection. The texture is just right, and the quality of the seafood has always been something we’ve appreciated. Their Whole Sha-Bang seasoning is easily one of our favorites, and it’s that incredible combination of flavors that keeps us returning whenever we’re craving a good seafood boil.
Unfortunately, this particular order left us feeling a bit disappointed, and surprisingly, it wasn’t because of the quality, freshness, or taste of the food. The shrimp itself was excellent, just as we’ve come to expect. However, the amount of shrimp we received was noticeably smaller than what we’re accustomed to.
We ordered multiple bags of shrimp, and every single one seemed to have significantly fewer shrimp than we’ve received on previous occasions. This wasn’t just one bag that felt a little light; it was consistent across our entire order. In all the times we’ve ordered from The Boiling Crab, we’ve never experienced this before. We’ve always been satisfied with the portions, which made the difference this time particularly noticeable.
Considering the price of seafood boils, portion sizes matter just as much as quality and flavor. When you’re paying a premium for shrimp, you naturally expect to receive a reasonable amount, especially when previous experiences have established that expectation.
On a more positive note, we also ordered the Chicken Tenders Basket with Cajun Fries, and it’s a fantastic option worth mentioning! Not everyone enjoys seafood, and this is the perfect dish for someone who wants to join in on a meal from The Boiling Crab without feeling left out. It’s a great alternative that allows everyone at the table to enjoy something, even if seafood isn’t their thing. I really appreciate that they offer options like this rather than limiting the menu entirely to seafood.
I’m genuinely hoping the smaller shrimp portions were just an isolated incident rather than a change in how they’re serving their food. We love The Boiling Crab, and the freshness, quality, and incredible flavors are still reasons we’d happily return. We’re definitely willing to order again to see whether the portions return to what we’ve come to expect. However, if this becomes a recurring issue, we may unfortunately have to start exploring other seafood boil restaurants.
Overall, the food itself was delicious as always, with fresh, perfectly cooked shrimp, fantastic seasoning, and a great non-seafood option in the chicken tenders and Cajun fries. The only thing holding this experience back was the disappointing amount of shrimp across all our bags. Hopefully, our next order will be back to the generous portions we’ve enjoyed in the past!
