• 10/23/24Lamb-Beef Shawarma and Toasted Pita was the best meal I've had here in the 8 years I've lived in Astoria! This will definitely be a regular treat. Super flavorful meat and sauces, and paired perfectly with the buttery saffron rice, and veggies. Thank y'all for bringing this amazing spot to the Astoria food scene!

• 4/18/26the shwarma platter has become one of my weekend choice of guilty pleasures. I tried just the rice and some hummus off a friend a while ago and its been stuck on my mind ever since -craving it, having to try it again!! it is absolutely delicious and more than filling for one.

• 3/29/26The gyros were absolutely amazing! Only complaint I have was the fries were definitely overcooked and quite hard. I thought at first that they were just crispy, but they were very much overcooked, but this is the only time I have ever had any complaint about Athena's! Their food is always phenomenal. A little overcooked fry isn't gonna stop me from going back again and again.!!!

• 1/7/25This was my first time eating here. I ordered the Lamb Beef/ Chicken Shawarma Combo and my husband ordered the Gyros with lamb and beef. My husband really liked his gyro but the Lamb Beef/ Chicken Shawarma Combo was absolutely delicious! The meat was tender and flavorful. The rice was unbelievably delicious and fragrant. Usually the rice in a combo is not worth eating but this was a star. Plus all the little tasty bits that come with it like the peppers and olives and red onion and cucumber add freshness. I will be back and reordering this. Unless I get the falafel instead.
