Suya brooklyn = food + culture
Suya is a spice blend of peanuts, aromatics, and peppers that is typically used to marinade beef before it is…
Perfectly spiced, solid portions for the price + condiments are so good + quick preparation/delivery!

Salmon Suya Bowl - we ordered two of these. But the fish did not taste fresh. It was a little fishy and it tasted like it was just recently thought or not fully thawed out. There was a lot of rice. The vegetables were OK. The flavor just wasn't there.

I used to really enjoy ordering from Brooklyn Suya, but something has definitely changed recently, and not for the better.
They have updated the menu, and while the food is still good, it is frustrating how much customization has been removed. You used to be able to mix two types of meat or add extra protein to your bowl, but that is no longer an option. The avocado add-on also changed. It used to be a half avocado for $1, but now it is just a quarter, which feels stingy.
I have also had a few orders where they put in plantain instead of avocado, and you never know if you will actually get the peanut aioli or sweet sauce anymore since the “sauce on the side” option is gone.
That said, the ingredients are still really fresh, and the flavor is just as good as it always has been. Despite the annoyance of the changed DoorDash menu and limitations...
It just feels like I am now limited with the options I once enjoyed, and that makes it hard to order again. I know it will not be the same as it once was.

I’ve been coming here for years and have probably eaten here 30+ times. The food is generally phenomenal, which is why I keep coming back, but there are some recurring issues, and today’s experience was the last straw. My pickup order was ready 45 minutes after the stated pickup time. The uploaded photo shows the crowd of people waiting 30+ minutes outside.
The pickup delays aren’t a one-off issue. If you’re placing a pickup order, add at least a half hour minutes to whatever pickup time you’re quoted.
The meat can also be surprisingly inconsistent. About a quarter of the time, it’s super chewy or overcooked.
My biggest complaint with the food itself is the way the bowls are assembled. The sauce is typically poured on top, but the ingredients aren’t mixed together at all. If you eat it straight from the container, the top portion is overloaded with sauce while the bottom is almost completely dry. It’s like dressing a salad by dumping all the dressing in one spot and never tossing it. I usually end up dumping the bowl onto a cutting board at home and mixing everything together myself.
The service is consistently poor and has been for as long as I’ve been coming here.
That said, the food is good enough that I keep coming back. The suya seasoning, aioli, and sweet sauce are legitimately phenomenal.
