absolutely delicious as always i usually get the 3 Chicken Tenders Plate and in my opinion they're the best around and the batter just melts in your mouth I will say often times the Seasonal Fruit Cobbler has too much fruit and not enough cobbler but it's nothing ice cream can't fix.

They've recently changed the breading. It ruined what was once the best chicken in the area. The potato wedges are good but bland, and the macaroni and cheese is alright. Honey mustard is good. Portions ok but expensive for how much you get. I won't order again until they change the recipe back for the chicken tenders.

Mitchems Kitchen in Vale (closed forever) was the only place we ever enjoyed restaurant BBQ till one day we stop by Butch's on a low blood sugar hail Mary.
Butch's BBQ gave me joy. Our family experience has always been to avoid BBQ from a restaurant when what we have at home is so superior. Butch's has changed that. to the point getting my Husband to spend 10hours on Boston Butt Pulled pork is nearly a thing of the past
IT is SOOOO nice to have Carolina home style slow smoked & pulled pork that doesn't need to be drowning in sauce to be edible. And Butch's is perfect before and after the sauce. They have delicious variety of sauces to add to your food if you choose. It is truly levels above. And Mac n Cheese .... well let's just say..... Gramma is reincarnated in that tecipe.
In Morganton... this sets them apart as most other is mediocre faire posing as st louis, Memphis, or Texas BBQ... or some weird too sweet/hot combo. . Now those style BBQ have a place. But NC has unique BBQ reputation and Butch's BBQ is living up to the expectation with gold stars!

Order was incorrect - asked for a salad instead of slaw but got slaw anyway. Only got half a portion of potato wedges, which is what I ordered, bc there was half a compartment of soggy onion rings underneath, instead. First time I tried their vinegar based sauce & it is SWEEEEET, but the chicken was so dry, I ate it anyway. Def won't be paying $20 for this plate, again....nor will I be promoting Butch's to anyone I know. My aunt's chicken tenders were good, at least.

I've traveled this country for 15yrs....ate BBQ in every corner of the country....and this is in my top 5 best pulled pork...ive had, smokey, flavorful, and the vinegar based sauce i had was wonderful...
