It’s pretty clear that the PNW has its own pizza style that a lot of people grew up with and love. But for the rest of us pizza-loving transplants, Checkerboard finally fills the gap in Portland’s east metro, where good pizza has been hard to find. Their wood-fired pies are legit—chewy crust, thin charred bottom, and full of flavor. The only reason I’m knocking off a star is the price, but otherwise, huge thanks to Checkerboard!

Checkerboard Pizza is the real deal. After trying countless pizza spots around Portland, this place stands out. The dough has this incredible flavor and texture that’s hard to find — you can tell it’s made with care. The ingredients are super fresh, and it all comes together in a way that keeps you thinking about it long after you’ve left. Highly recommend to any pizza lover in the city!

This is the best pizza hands down! The way they use the chorizo is amazing. The quality is fantastic and you can taste the difference. You definitely get your moneys worth. Yes it's slightly more speedy than other non-traditional pizzerias, however the old adage you get what you pay for is so true here. I'm so glad that checkerboard is here, and hope they have continued success!!!!!!!

Delicious every time, and I've tried a lot of their different pies. I think these other reviewers need to stick to Pizza Hut.
