Compared to other BBQ combo rice plates I’ve had, ChenJi’s three-combination rice is a bit more expensive and slightly different in style. Instead of the usual greens like Shanghai bok choy, they serve it with sweet and sour pickled mustard greens, which I actually found quite tasty.
That said, the portion of meat is definitely on the smaller side compared to other places. One unique highlight is that it comes with a small bowl of winter melon pork rib soup, which helps balance out the richness. It also includes half a salted duck egg — though personally, I still prefer a braised egg.
This is my second time ordering, mainly wanted to take some photos this time. I might order again if there’s a good deal or promotion.

Chenji’s BBQ three-combo rice was pretty tasty. I chose roast duck, crispy pork belly, and their signature chicken. The portion of the meats was a bit on the smaller side, but one nice touch was the hot winter melon soup that came with it — I personally enjoy having soup with rice.
A very unique highlight was the half duck egg. It wasn’t just a regular boiled egg, but more like a salted duck egg, which made it feel quite special and interesting.
Overall, for my first time trying their three-combo rice, it was a solid experience.

Taste exactly like clay pot chicken without the clay pot! Brought back some memories. Awesome!
