In 1951, Ches Barbour, with his wife Betty by his side, started a humble fish and chips shop in St. John's, Newfoundland. Rising each morning, he'd steam out the narrows of St. John's harbour in his s…
The portion sizes are a little small, but the food is decently filling so it's not that big of a deal. Also, the fish and Famous Fish & Chips are pretty good. One issue is that after a while (like an hour), the grease kinda made the fries really soggy and the fish strangely dry? Idk but it was good apart from that.

Poutine was OK... could use more gravy and cheese though. Was barely enough gravy to melt what little cheese that came on the 2 Poutine ordered .....Onion Rings were a little under cooked! But for almost 20 dollars for each order of fries gravy and cheese, you shouldn't be so cheap with the toppings. I was gonna add dressing until I seen the price???? Craziness the cost and get so little now for your dollar!!
Probably won't order again....Used to be my favorite restaurant when I lived on Spencer Street 😕 disappointing!

people recommend this place to me while visiting here from NB....the chips were over cooked hard seemed to little bits....fish was more batter than fish....can get better at deluxe... waste of money... guess I'll stick to non fish items for the rest of my vacation

Get the ches's choice batter for the tenders! They taste amazing, super flavourful. They are also great size, super fresh tasting too. I'll always order the ches's choice batter now I'll never go back! 10/10 would order again !

Honestly wasn't worth my $96 dollars. Everything was greasy as hell. The chicken had a weird look to it, the onion rings were waayyy to greasy. you bit into it and got a mouthful of grease. Fries and gravy was the only good thing about this.
