Chicken with Rice is hands down one of the most authentic Singaporean restaurants (run by same folks as Shiok!) I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing outside of Singapore. Run by a family of Singaporeans who have preserved beloved recipes for generations, this gem brings the heart and soul of Singaporean cuisine right to the Bay Area.
The dishes are bursting with bold, complex flavors that transport me straight to Singapore’s hawker centers. Personal favorites include the comforting Laksa with its rich and fragrant coconut broth, perfectly grilled and flavorful Chicken Satay skewers, the iconic Chicken Rice that’s a must-try for any first-timer, and the deliciously crispy Tahu Goreng, which balances sweetness, nuttiness, and a hint of spice beautifully.
Every bite is a testament to their culinary heritage and passion for sharing Singapore’s rich food culture. • 10/26/21The Chicken and Rice with and extra serving of rice and extra chicken was perfect.. I've never had Poached Chicken. So tasty and healthier than fried .. I enjoy fried, it's just not healthy for me. Poached is a great alternative. Made just the way I asked. I requested no salt added. I knew it would not be salt free. For some , it may still have a little more salt than preferred if prepared at home . I just did not want additional salt added during the preparation.I enjoyed it very much and appreciated that the restaurant provided a way for me to communicate this. Most restaurants will not. It's take it or leave it. I do understand why some restaurants allow no special requests. This isn't a consumer friendly approach for those with health issues. In my opinion. I'm looking forward to ordering again. My only regret is that I'm relocating out of state in a few months.

• 5/9/25The Rendang Beef with Coconut Rice was delicious especially the coconut rice. It was spicy but still edible by my white midwestern boring palette.

• 12/16/21I love the Rendang beef dish as well as the chicken skewers. This place doesn't have a large menu but it's probably the best tasting in town. Definitely recommend.
