Sopapillas they were simply amazing. I could have eaten 12! I would have regretted it but it would have been worth it!

Back in the day 30+ years ago, desperatos taco was something to seek out. I was excited to see a restaurant open up North of 635. Unfortunately, the quality of food has gone down. It's hard to keep up the quality while making the prices reasonable. The meat was very dry and a bit over seasoned for my taste. I still loved the fried puffed up taco shell, though!

I tried Desperados for the first time tonight, and unfortunately it will probably be my last.
This was about a $100 meal, and it felt like a complete waste of money.
I ordered 2 orders of carne asada, and it was very disappointing. The meat tasted more like soft, undercooked roast beef than grilled carne asada. It did not have the flavor, texture, seasoning, or sear I expected. My daughter threw hers away because parts where rare all the way through. (We ordered medium)
We also had the chicken fajitas, and those were not much better. The chicken tasted like plain cooked chicken breast with very little seasoning or flavor. The onions and peppers served with the fajitas were basically raw, which made the dish feel unfinished and not like fajitas at all.
I also ordered queso, but it came with no chips and no salsa, which was surprising for a Mexican restaurant order and made the meal feel incomplete.
Overall, this was a bad first experience. I really wanted to like it, but the food was bland, underwhelming, and poorly prepared. For a $100 meal, it was nowhere near worth it. I will not order again.

Chicken was horribly burnt. Only got one tiny thing of salsa for a whole salad; no way to order additional
