So I have to say, I really liked this place. I'm in Ann Arbor for work and I really didn't feel like going out tonight so I saw this chicken place but it's far out and had a high delivery fee but I figured I'd give it a chance.
I ordered large gizzards, two thighs, two legs and a side of gravy. I also ordered some cookies. I figure if I'm going to pay that delivery fee. I'll get a decent amount of food for a couple of days.
I'm not going to say that this was the best fried chicken I've ever had, but it's different than a lot of of the kind of fast food chicken I've ever had. It reminds me of how my grandmother and Virginia would pan fry the chicken and it was a nice change. It was not overly seasoned, it was not greasy, tasted very homemade and was moist inside.
The gizzards had the same feeling. It didn't have that heavy batter, it seemed like it was pan fried and much of the flour had actually come off, which I don't mind because I like the gizzard more than the flour. The only downside to the gizzards is that I ordered a large and while they came in a large size cup for a side, it did not quite seem worth the price.
I said all of that, the food was really good and I highly recommend getting a side of gravy to dip your chicken or gizzards in. Also, get a side of hot sauce too. I like that they're hot sauce, side and honey side aren't packets, they are the 1 ounce cups.
I'm not totally sure if the cookies are baked there, but they were very good, kind of thin and not heavy.
I actually wish that I had gotten a side of mashed potatoes because that gravy is really good. It is chicken gravy and it's not too thick and not too thin with a slightly sweet flavor that goes really well with the chicken.
I already had green beans and fingerling potatoes here so I ate the chicken with those and I drizzled some of the gravy on top of all of it and I felt like I was really eating a homemade meal.

1 Piece of Cod was great as a preschooler's dinner. Chicken was good. Did not like batter for Breaded Zucchini Sticks and Jalap Poppers too thick and gritty for me but completely a personal preference, very good deal for price and I appreciate generous portions. Will def order cod, fried chicken, and mashed potatoes again

Simply the best Family Chicken Menu 1 is always prepared perfect juicy tender and full of flavor, it is such a treat to get and at a lower price than all the others also.
I was so happy when they added the 3 Cookies to the menu they are such a nice addition to the already perfect meal. The friend Breaded Mushrooms are always perfect not a greasy mess like most if the places I get them from I love to sprinkle them with Parma cheese and they are amazing.

The Family Chicken Menu 2 was perfect. Best chicken around they put KFC to shame and none of the others even come close to the flavor or crunch you get at family chicken. Always hot always juicy and full of flavor.

1st time ordering from Family Chicken & it won't be the last. Wonderful chicken thighs and great cod. The cod & thighs were fried with a perfect amount of batter - great flavors w/o a ton of salt! Coleslaw was fresh & tasty. Sweet potato pie & pecan pie were both light and not overly sweet. VERY pleased & happy to recommend Family Chicken!
