So happy to have found this little gem! The Butter Chicken is amazing! Chicken is so tender and full of flavour and the Coconut Rice blend compliments it so well. I also bought the Naan bread and got 2 decent sized meals out everything for under $28 total. Definitely coming back to try more of the great food on offer

The Chef at Great Indian wave knows how to temper spices to perfection and make beautiful sauces. Ive eaten lot of Indian food from restaurants across Melbourne and this is probably the best. The Rogan Josh is made with an exceptional spice blend and the meat is always good quality and quantity of pieces. The Eggplant & Potato (Medium Hot)is also a stand out dish, and the Palak Paneer is absolutely delicious. i find the Coconut Rice to be a favorite also. My note here is actually mostly intended as a thank you to, and recognition of a very good Chef who deserves the highest praise.

I genuinely cannot remember the last time I was this disappointed by a meal.
I ordered tandoori chicken and chicken biryani, and both were shockingly bad. The tandoori chicken was dry to the point of being difficult to chew, completely lacking in flavor, and had none of the smoky depth you expect. It tasted like it had been sitting around far too long before being sent out.
The chicken biryani was even worse — oily, flat, and utterly soulless. No aroma, no layering of spices, no richness. Just greasy rice with bland chicken thrown in. Calling it biryani feels generous.
But what really sealed the experience was the response when I called to give feedback. I wasn’t yelling. I wasn’t demanding anything unreasonable. I simply explained how poor the food was.
The manager’s solution? “We’ll make it again — you can come pick it up.”
I was already sitting with my family. The whole point of ordering was convenience. Driving back to collect a replacement defeats the purpose entirely.
When I explained that I couldn’t leave and asked what I was supposed to do now, the response was basically, “Yeah, sure, sure… I can’t really do anything.” Completely dismissive. No ownership. No effort to make it right beyond asking the customer to fix the problem themselves.
I said I wouldn’t be ordering again.
The response: “Fine. Okay. Thank you.”
That tells you everything you need to know.
Bad food can happen. Kitchens have off days. But indifference to feedback? That’s a choice. And it’s one that guarantees I’ll never return.
There are plenty of Indian restaurants that care about quality and customer experience. This is not one of them.
