Truly, the worst supposedly Japanese restaurant I have ever experienced. The three items I ordered were virtually inedible and had to be thrown out. Most frustrating was the picture of the Japanese fried chicken, which appears to be actual pieces of fried chicken as in breast, thighs, etc. However what came were inedible, tough tiny pieces of what appear to be rejects from the bottom of a chicken McNugget storage bin. The rice dish was just that, and being 98% stale rice topped with literally two or three pieces of my ordered proteins. The beef was tough, and the shrimp was rancid. I strongly recommend to avoid this restaurant at all costs. What's even more exasperating is they are one of the most expensive Japanese restaurants in Los Angeles and as I said the absolute worst

Did not receive the chili sauce and the Beef Sukiyaki Fried Rice Bowl is soooo good however asked for no mushroom (allergic) and found mushroom in the rice as I was eating it :( Vegetable Spring Rolls are also super delicious

GyuKaku has changed for the worse since the pandemic. They used to deliver fresh meats that weren't covered in sauce as if you were there. The Umakara Beef Bowl was drowned in sauce ruining the dish. The fried rice tasted like the secret ingredient was pancake syrup. This was a hard miss.

taste was okay, but price was not good for the flavor and portion sizes. tasted similar to waba, which is quite a bit cheaper.
