My favorite Mexican restaurant in Ankeny. The food is always delicious and you get a lot of food for the price. The California Burrito is huge.

I was sad when our favorite Mexican restaurant on the north side closed. But I am so glad I found Hernandez's. I order door dash lunch from here at least once a week. I have never been disappointed. The food is flavorful and has a nice sized portion for the lunch menu. The packaging is always perfect and it includes chips and salsa and plastic ware. Most importantly, my meal has always been prepared correctly - even with my goofy modifications. Hernandez's for the WIN!

There's no way they should be charging almost $4 for a tiny condiment sized container of Guacamole Side. The Pico De Gallo is also a tiny condiment sized cup. The Authentic Mexican Rice is perfect. The Chips & Salsa are perfect imo. The Faj Shrimp & Chickenitas were okay, but could use more seasoning and the peppers and onions could be cooked longer/softer. Aguas Frescas 32 Oz was not very sweet, but I didn't mind. Little pricey for the size.

Everything was delicious, but expected the Seafood Chimichanga to be deep fried and crunchy as described. It was more like a smothered burrito that had not been fried at all. Soft and wet. However, it was loaded with filling, even though I didn't find any scallops unless they're counting the imitation crab as both "crab" and "scallops". Flautas are HUGE and delicious. Rice and beans, while pretty standard with every Mexican restaurant and usually meh, were both awesome! Rice has a nice mild heat and beans are creamy and not dry. Will try again!

Oh my god. Where have you been all my life? First of all, the bean dip goes absolutely crazy. The birria tacos are amazing and the floutas are perfectly crisp while the insides stay juicy. 10/10
