So the reviews on this place are crazy mixed. I decided to try it for myself because, what the heck, I like to live dangerously. My food arrived in a timely manner. The plate was kinda small imo. I'm from Detroit and the smaller food portions took some getting used to when we moved here. Especially considering that the menu prices are on par with what you'd pay in the "D". Now I'm an amazing cook. I even owned a catering company back home. I ordered the oxtail, mac and cheese, and the Okra/lima side. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't blown away either. I would give it a 7 out of 10. Now some reviews complained about a lack of seasoning. I see how they got there, but I also understand that soul food is mostly consumed by us black folk and it can go hand in hand with high blood pressure. Keeping mindful of that is a good thing and it's better to under use salt that over use it. Especially where the elders are concerned and especially if you eat here once a week or more. The tails were tender, the corn bread was exceptional, the lima's and Okra were decent, the Mac and cheese was just ok, but they need to head back to the drawing board where the gravy was concerned. It was a adequate portion of food for the money, and tasted just adequate as well. While I wouldn't toss that plate out like another reviewer stated, I wouldn't go out of my way for it either.
