The best chicken Chicken with Mixed Vegetables I have found in West Kendall. The chicken was tender, and the vegetables were crisp-tender. Very close to my ideal, which is saying a lot.
The Hot & Sour Soup was also very good. It arrived hot, both in temperature & spiciness. Exceptional. Also, the prices are reasonable. I will be ordering again.

Both the Roast Duck & Pickled Vegetable Rice Noodles and the Beef Chow Fun were excellent this time. The beef in the Beef Chow Fun contained the fragrant aroma of wine instead of the odd curry powder that they sometimes add to it. Everything was well cooked in the Roast Duck & Pickled Vegetable Rice Noodles with a considerable and skillful amount of wok hei. When South Garden is good, it is really good! I was hesitant to order again, but South Garden remains one of the few truly authentic Cantonese restaurants in Miami. Thanks to the chef at South Garden for making everything so fresh and delicious. It's good to see South Garden back in full force.

The Short Ribs with Black Bean Sauce, Egg Noodles with Beef Tendon + Brisket, and Fried Rice Vermicelli with Duck and Pickled Vegetables were all so delicious. The portions were generous and the prices were affordable. In terms of deliciousness, all of the dishes were just as good as some of the best restaurants in New York's Chinatown, so I was very delighted.

It's sad, but South Garden and I may be heading for a divorce. Every item I ordered had some problems this time, including the once tried and true - such as their iconic Beef Lo Mein, which at any time when I had ordered it in the past four or five years was usually a 10/10 winner. This time, it was dry and didn't have that smoky, savory, ever so slightly sweet and just saucy enough wok hei that really makes South Garden's Beef Lo Mein one of the best I have had anywhere. The Chicken & Salty Fish (Bacalao) Fried Rice was so dry and bland that I literally nearly choked eating it. But the bigger disappointment was the dry as paper, bland as water, lifeless, loveless Dim Sum Spring Rolls that all of a sudden had a completely different filling than past orders. It had some gross cabbage and looked like it came out of PF Chang's instead of an actual Cantonese restaurant that at one time was as good as some of the ones in New York's Chinatown.
