If you want a REAL Philly cheesesteak in Charleston, South Street Cheesesteaks on Spring Street is the spot. This isn't some knockoff steak sandwich, this is the real deal.
I got The Beef South Street Cheesesteak and I was blown away. Piled high with thick, juicy, perfectly seasoned chopped beef, melted cheese all the way through, and their signature mayo-based sauce on a fresh-baked Ambrosia roll that is soft inside with just the right chew on the outside. It holds up to all that meat and cheese without falling apart. Absolute perfection.
You can tell they do it right — the meat is hot and juicy on the flat top, the cheese is fully melted in, the roll is toasted. And it’s HUGE. This will absolutely fill you up.
Service was fast and friendly even though they were slammed, and I love that they’re open late. That takeout kitchen at 119 Spring St Suite 2 is a lifesaver for downtown Charleston late-night cravings. I ordered ahead for curbside pickup and it was ready in minutes.
A Taste of Philly Down South is exactly what they promise. If you’re craving a Wizard, a Super Chicken Cheesesteak, or just the classic, don’t go anywhere else in Charleston.
10/10, will be back every time I’m in town. Do yourself a favor and order one wit or wit-out — just order one!

• 11/6/25I was very skeptical about ordering from here for the first time, especially when I'm picky about cheesesteaks. Well, I have to say that THIS BEEF SOUTH STREET CHEESESTEAK looks delicious and smells great. A lot of steak is piled up and the flavor is good

• 6 days agoThe Cheddar & Bacon Liberty Burger arrived fresh and had really good flavor... however my only complaint is that there wasn't enough of it. The patty itself was veryy small for the price. I appreciated the quality of the meat and bun, but expected a little more bang for the buck. I ordered it because of a DoorDash promo, but will stick to their huge Philly's in the future.

• 2/2/26Ok so look….wonderful gentleman who I think is the owner comes on to my job and leaves me a sample. FLAVOR & TENDERNISM!! So after drinking I decide to place a doordash order for The Wizard even more flavor & tendornism!! Omg these cheesesteaks are so good with a bomb portion of meat and FRESH!! Mind you I ordered after midnight!! 100/10 wouldn recommend!! Coming from someone originally from the midwest! *chefs kiss*

• 6/13/25South Street Cheesesteaks always hits the mark! I’ve lived in Charleston for a while now, and whether it’s a late-night order or midday meal, they’re always consistent. Today I got the chicken cheesesteak with a Mediterranean salad and potato salad—everything was super fresh, flavorful, and packed with care. One of my go-to spots that never disappoints!
