• 7/25/26the Butter Chicken tasted really good, the flavor was wonderful. the only thing is the portion size was small for the price I felt they could have given more Chicken and a bigger container for that much.

We ordered lamb biriyani, chicken karahi, pani puri, 2 garlic naan and mango lassi. This was enough for me and my wife for dinner and to return to eat as a snack later in the evening.
We have had the lamb biriyani before, it is so flavorful and the portion is enough for me and my wife. The chicken Karahi was a first time for us and we both really liked it! I feel it would be better with goat or lamb so there is a reason for us to order again!
The pani puri was delicious. I've watched it being eaten online for so long, finally got to try it and I would order it again! I wish more puri is served, maybe two or three more just to finish up the pani... the taste is too good to waste so I drank the water!
Naan is cooked perfectly and thin and a great option instead of cutlery.
The mango lassi drink is perfect to cool down your mouth in between bites, the sweet really goes well with the savory spice. It has a slightly thinner than smoothie texture.
I'll definitely order again.

• 4/5/26Always the best around 🙏 The Butter Chicken is aways tender, fresh, and robust with flavor. The sauce is extra creamy and smooth. I also love how it's not a heavy tomato based sauce like some places rely on. This is a mh better butter sauce than most.

• 7/20/26I ordered two large chutneys and the containers were swollen, exploding when I opened them. They also smelled sour. The veggie pakpras were dark and limp. The samosas were crispy, but the centers were wet/undercooked. This place is usually much, much better.

• 3/3/26I have been going to Sunlight for Indian food for years, and I am never disappointed! I am a super fan of everything I have tried. Sometimes I just want the comfort favorites of rice, butter chicken, naan, korma, and mango lassi and sometimes it's all about trying new things, but every time the food is fresh, hot and delicious. When inside the restaurant, the service is fantastic, the staff are friendly, and the dishes are appetizing. I just ordered delivery for the first time through DoorDash. The store is around 25 minutes from my house, and the delivery took 50 minutes from ordering to receiving the meal. Perfectly acceptable. The food was in containers that were saran wrapped to avoid spilling and also helped keep the food warm. There was no ice in the lassi, so it didn't get watered down, which was much appreciated! I think Sunlight is the best Indian food you can get near Modesto. It is worth the drive, and if you are unable, the delivery option works just fine.
