• 11/27/24As someone originally from San Diego, I’ve had my fair share of amazing Mexican food, and finding something that compares to the vibrant food culture back home has always been a challenge. That is, until I discovered Taqueria La Marqueza in Ypsilanti, Michigan. This place is, hands down, the best Mexican food in town—and it’s not even close.
The recent renovations have transformed the space into a more comfortable and spacious dining experience, with additional seating available, but it still retains the cozy, authentic vibe that makes it feel like you’re stepping into a local taqueria in Mexico.
If you're a fan of crispy, flavorful tacos, you absolutely must try their Tacos Dorados. These rolled tacos are out of this world—crispy, packed with tender filling, and topped with just the right amount of fresh ingredients and salsas. It's a dish that immediately takes you back to the best taquerias in California.
The Carne Asada Quesadilla is another standout. The meat is perfectly seasoned and grilled, and the cheese is gooey, melty, and indulgent—every bite is packed with flavor. The quesadilla itself is a thing of beauty: not too greasy, just the right amount of crispy, and filled with the perfect balance of ingredients.
What really sets Taqueria La Marqueza apart is the authenticity. Every dish feels like it’s made with care, using quality ingredients and traditional methods that you can taste in every bite. Whether you’re enjoying tacos, quesadillas, or one of their other delicious offerings, you can be sure you're getting the real deal.
The staff is always friendly, and while the restaurant is small, the recently expanded seating area means it’s much more comfortable for dining in. The food is reasonably priced for the quality, and the portions are generous.
If you’re in Ypsilanti and craving authentic Mexican food, Taqueria La Marqueza is a must-visit. It’s not just the best in town—it’s a slice of true Mexican flavor that rivals anything you’d find in Southern California. I can’t recommend it enough!

• 9/18/24The Tamales de Rajas (Jalapenos with Cheese) was authentic & so flavorful! Their green salsa is to die for. Even the Rice & Beans were hot & fresh & perfectly salty. The Pollo (Marinated Chicken) tacos were fresh, authentic, tender, and had so much meat. I've reordered multiple times. Highly recommend!!

• 1/13/25I only knew about this place from being a former dasher myself. Everything was well made; my roommate enjoyed the Burrito Ranchero, and the Fried Cheesecake was to die for. Well-made Campechano Burrito, with huge portions. We're definitely going to order from here again!

• 1/10/25The tamales are hefty with a good amount of tasty fillings. The Guacamole (8oz) is a little more thin than creamy thick, but is delicious and the texture is great. Did not come with chips though, heads up. I enjoyed the Rice & Beans as well and the portion size was good for the price. I'll definitely order the birria taco again.

• 2/27/26Chimichanga I wanted to like this far more than I did. The picture looked like it had a nice crispy fry on it, but mine was really bland and not crispy at all. It was more like a burrito dipped in grease. I ordered the chicken, but there was literally only two pieces of chicken in the otherwise been stuffed Chimichanga
