Gokan was hands down top 3 happy hours and last minute spots before. And now? I get to enjoy all of this goodness at home. Can't recommend enough the baked oysters--throw in some miso and gyoza and you have the foundation of my regular order :D

The rice was too mushy (too much water? old?) and the pork was very grey, thin & low quality- meat is very tough and mostly breading. The "salad" was very sad too. This might be the last time I order this from Gokan; their quality has really dropped the last few times. For a few dollars more, I can great quality tonkatsu, fresh/not mushy rice and a good cabbage salad (with miso) from Sakana.

the Blue Crab Nigiri in the photo is so pathetic. it's like someone threw the crab in the box with the rice and seaweed and shook it up. first time ordering from here, kinda disappointed. Salmon Maki feels like very stingy portions but at least good taste and roll quality. Salmon Avocado Roll is good too.

The Gokan was my go-to for many years but a year ago I switched to Momiji. I am now accustomed to a certain level of experience that The Gokan fell very short of. My lunch order cost over $50 and the vegetable roll was mostly large romaine lettuce pieces and pickled ginger that fell out. Literal empty rounds. My shrimp tempura roll was mostly imitation crab. My Seattle roll tasted like salty preserved salmon. What happened to the quality that I knew before? Very disappointed.

Good quality, but their sashimi shrinkflation is becoming funny. We've been ordering from Gokan for years and their sashimi has more than halved in size over that time (the three red bits in the photo are three pieces of maguro sashimi sitting next to two pieces of hamachi nigiri).
