Thundercloud is always a favorite. It checks all the boxes when I have a sandwich craving. Definitely one of the best sandwich shops in Austin and even better that it's Austin-based! I would never complain if I had to eat here everyday.

Large portions. Keeps well without getting soggy too quickly. More affordable than similar options in the area. Solid lunch option with enough food for leftovers or sharing.

Delicious sandwhich as always. SOUP of the day was tomato. It was a little too chunky but that's just my personal preference. The only two concerns I had was I asked for honey mustard on my sandwhich and got it on the side? The last concern was I got a DIET DR PEPPER and the cup was like half filled lol. Still a very good meal for the price!

Can't beat the prices here. Got a HUGE salad and a nice size sandwich for less than the cost of one sub at some of the other places. Only negative was I ordered a large drink and it came like 2/3 of the way full.

This is easily the best Thundercloud location. Everything is thoughtfully made, and the facilities are kept impeccably clean. I've been coming here since the early nineties, and I don't plan on slowing down anytime soon.
My go-to order is an American Classic with mayo, yellow mustard, provolone, lettuce, tomatoes, Thundersauce, jalapeños and sprouts.
I have seen some online reviews complaining the lettuce is shredded rather than whole leaf. While this may not be to everybody's tastes, I have come to truly appreciate Thundercloud's approach. Everything from meat and cheese to lettuce and tomatoes are sliced using a deli slicer, so everything comes out consistent and refined.
I like Thundercloud for its simplicity and unassuming quality. They aren't trying to be anything they're not. Instead, they provide something classic and familiar—the ol' reliable of Austin's yesteryear. Perfect to take to Zilker on a hot summer day!
