I have ordered from Tulum several times and it's not always consistently good. Today I tried something new. I was surprised how small the Birria Quesadilla was as. I assumed it would have come with beans and rice considering the size. Not a lot of filling in the middle either. Pretty bland.

The first time we ordered from here...fuego. This is the second time and it was a complete miss. The torta had zero toppings and the fish tacos were just cheese on tilapia. I want to love this place, but the inconsistency of the food makes it hard to ever order again.

Their choripollo was delicious, just wish there was a way to add green peppers, onions, maybe some other veggies to feel better about all the deliciousness, if need be.
Every now and again, I am brave enough to add sopapillas to my order at a Mexican restaurant and usually what ends up on my plate is crispy and sweet--not bad, by any means--but also not the sopapillas I know and love from my childhood in Albuquerque, New Mexico. These were pretty close! Closest so far.

The Birria Quesadilla is my new favorite! it's got such amazing flavor and is served with consomé on the side. I have just discovered Tulum and it's now a spot I will frequent often.
