Average food and there was one dosa and two idli, hardly a meal for 2. The sambar was watery and chutney had not taste. The beam halwa felt like was from one of those frozen packs. I would avoid this place.

I have not done a review yet because I am new to this, and I wanted my first one to be one that I absolutely felt something about before writing a review. Udupi Palace mentions that some of its items are up to 70% less than in the area, something I found to be true only on one of my items the Mulligatawany Soup. This happens to be one of my favorite soups! I am used to looking in it and seeing a variety of ingredients in an appetizing mix with a beautiful aroma! This was a bowl of brown liquid soup with nothing noticeable in it other than broth and a few pieces of spice!
As I looked through most of the entrées, I was worried that so many of them were fried that they would not travel well. The masala dosa arrived lukewarm, and not much taste. I do not like leaving a negative review! Especially for my first one. However, I spent over a decade living blocks from Devon Avenue! Before I found the restaurant that I used to love, which moved, I spent five years or more trying many different Indian restaurants! Usually you end up with leftovers, the amount was slightly less than I am used to getting. In conclusion, I would not order from this restaurant again. I did not like sounding so harsh, but what good is a review if it is not completely honest!

The Paper Masala Dosai (although a good portion size) and the Vegetable Samosa were not tasty at all. They tasted very greasy. The grease had an old taste to it, not fresh. I would not order or recommend them again.

Sambar for idly and uttappam was tasteless and watery. Uttappam was very hard, idlis were soft. However, Gajar halwa was the worst I've ever tasted in US. Sorry but I won't recommend spending money atleast for South Indian food here.
