My job used this place for catering and the food was amazing but then I ordered for my family and I was not impressed . We ordered shrimp fried rice and not only was the container 1/2 full but it maybe had 2 prawns in there that was cut up into little pieces (I guess that makes it shrimp fried rice). The chicken fried rice was worst. I also ordered salt and pepper prawns and not only were they soggy but no flavor at all and it was only 4 pieces. More onions and bell pepper in the container to take up space. The crispy rolls were also soggy. Not even worth talking about the rest of the order. Will not order from here again. Wasted money

Vanessa's is hands down the most consistently good food in Walnut Creek. I have never had a bad meal here!! Highly recommend the garlic noodles with filet and the shrimp fried rice. But everything is delicious.

The crab Oven Baked Dungeness Crab Sandwich is not as good as it used to be. Nice amount of crab but cold and soggy. Fried were also soggy but with a good sauce. Mint Mojito Vietnamese Coffee is good so is dessert. Good but not great and very expensive.

They need better take out vessels. Every single time I order from here the flimsy container all but disintegrates and spills half the contents into the equally flimsy bag and onto it's similarly endowed neighbors by the time it gets to me. Cooking any raw dishes I've ordered, contaminating any cooked dishes I've ordered.... and I only live 600 feet from the place. I suppose they never bother including utensils or napkins as these assuredly would be swimming in a pool of steaming sodium at the bottom of the bag with the rest of the detritus. On the bright side, this eventuality will ensure that some of that sodium ends up 86'd, as opposed to in your cardiovascular system.
The food is excellent though and portions are generous. So I deal. But I will still complain. At their price point, better containers and sturdier bags are definitely in order.
