I'm down here with my wife from Ocala, FL for a conference. We ordered the Create Your Own Old World Style Pizza (Large 16") with Pepperoni, a 1/2 dozen Garlic Rolls and a Caesar Side Salad. This was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. I knew it was going to be great when I opened the box and saw that the pizza was covered with fresh basil. I have never seen a pizza place include fresh basil without charging for it as a separate topping. The sauce was perfect, the pepperoni was perfect, and the crust was perfect. The jumbo slice from Dough Boys has always been my go-to ever since I moved to Lauderdae 7 years ago.
Being from the Italian section of Boston, I grew up with the best pizza shops on every corner.
This is definitely one of the best in Fort Lauderdale, but lately, it's been so inconsistent
Usually, the crust is thin and crispy, and the amounts of cheese, oil, and seasonings are just perfect.
This only happened a few other times a while ago, but then it went back to normal a few months ago.
It happened again today. It definitely didn't taste or look like Dough Boys jumbo slice, except for the size.
The dough was so thick, and the crust was thick and raw, as was the cheese and the sauce.
I love cheese, but this was over the top inedible.
On top of everything else, it was bland. Needless to say, I had a couple of bites but couldn't eat it.
They have incredible pizza and ingredients, but they need to show all the help how it's done."
