The butternut squash was cut smaller and cooked more tender on Friday, and today it's large, harder, flavorless chunks. Mashed potatoes had good flavor on Friday; today they are bland. Even the tri-tip was better Friday; several of Sunday's chunks have tough pieces. The food options are unique, which I appreciate, but these inconsistencies don't command the price. The filling (which that day was a classic beef) was incredibly savory, well-seasoned, and juicy. It wasn't a dry empanada at all; every bite was comforting and delicious. A 10/10 start!
Arroz Chaufa con Carne (Beef Fried Rice)
Next, I tried the Arroz Chaufa con Carne. This is not just any fried rice; it's a masterpiece of Chifa (Peruvian-Chinese fusion) cuisine. The rice had that unmistakable smoky "wok hei" flavor that is so hard to achieve. The pieces of beef were tender and mixed beautifully with the rice, scrambled eggs, and fresh green onions. It was flavorful, satisfying, and perfectly balanced. I could eat an entire plate of this without stopping.
Tallarín a la Huancaína con Lomo Saltado (Huancaína-Style Noodles with Saltado Steak)
Finally, the star of the show: the Tallarín a la Huancaína con Lomo Saltado. What an incredible combination! The pasta was perfectly cooked "al dente" and bathed in a creamy, velvety Huancaína sauce, which had just the right balance of fresh cheese, ají amarillo (yellow chili), and a subtle spicy kick.
But topping that pasta with Lomo Saltado is pure genius. The steak was tender, juicy, and stir-fried to the exact point, with that characteristic smoky flavor, accompanied by red onions and tomatoes that still retained their texture. absolutely unforgettable.

I put in a special request for cheese and was charged an extra $9.05—but there was no cheese inside at all. Just a small sprinkle of cotija on top. To make it worse, their chicken enchiladas apparently don’t come with cheese inside to begin with, which wasn’t clear—and charging that much extra while not actually fulfilling the request is unacceptable.
The food itself didn’t make up for it either. The enchiladas were filled with dry chicken, the beans were oddly sweet (like sugar was added), and the Mexican rice was bland.
Also, be careful with special requests—they significantly upcharge (3x what it should be) and don’t seem to follow through. Honestly, it would’ve been cheaper to DoorDash a bag of shredded Mexican or Chihuahua cheese and add it in myself."
