"Wow, Shirley's Soulfood tasted like home as I grew up in rural Ga. The fried fish was perfectly cooked and fresh. I had the yams and collard greens which were also perfectly cooked and seasoned! This is the best traditional soul food I have had in the Poughkeepsie area and I have ordered from all of them listed on DoorDash! Shirley's in is the best bar none!!"
"First time trying this place, Ive been wanting to for ages. It was very clean and had good energy, which I really appreciate. The fried chicken was so so good and exactly what I was hoping for. Some of the best Ive had in the area. inhe flavor of the fries, mac&cheese, and mashed potatoes were all good, though the fries had no crisp to them which was dissapointing. My biggest complaint was that the hush puppies were fried in the same oil as shrimp and fish, so they had a seafood taste that made them almost inedible in my opinion. I wish they would seperate in that regard. I would definitely go back for the chicken alone, the rest of it I feel indifferent about. "
