I'm from New Haven and I'm italian/ American. I consider myself somewhat of a pizza
connoisseur. Of course no one else does, but....
the pizza lacked flavor. I had small mooze with my favorite vegetables. It badly needed salt, which i provided and that helped. If there was garlic, i didn't taste it. I had a couple of slices and gave up. The price was also high. 21.00 for small pie with tĥe veggies.
I will say, bless them that they gave me free priority delivery, because of my disappointment at my last visit. Shows real customer service.
I probably won't order pizza here again, but because of their kindness, I might order a sub or one of their other dishes"

"We have enjoyed meals from Villa Lulu in the past. It has been a whilesince our last order, however. This meal did not, unfortunately, hit all the past high marks. The meals were tepid in temperature. The Linguini Cacio E Pepe was glued together, but tasty. My gnocchi dish was also delicious lovely sauce, toothsome gnocchi. Both pasta dishes were less generous than in the past and given the price. The artichoke appetizer, while generous in quantity, was virtually inedible. The pieces of deep-fried artichoke looked so crispy appealing but tasted neither of artichoke nor the lightly acidic packing liquid. All we tasted was cooking oil. One seemed to get a near mouthful of oil instead of nice vegetal texture and flavor. We each did not finish our portions. The Cannolis were ok. The shell was thick and not soggy. The filing was fresh, nice flavor. They were not presented as is the menu photo. The cannoli were missing the chopped pistachios . Instead a small amount of the nuts were tossed into the serving container.
Food prices are high for restaurants right now, and places are often understaffed. Restaurants are working hardto stay aflo at. We get that. But the issues we experienced tonight could have been better managed."

This time we made a pizza, only,
order, and we were THRILLED
with the results.
The Veggie Special was packed with
peppers, olives, onions, mushrooms
and a generous amount of cheese.
With a Neapolitan crust, this amount
of vegetables would have made it
soggy. But with Zois, the cake-like
Greek crust, absorbed water given
off by the veggies and still remained
crispy and toothsome. The large
portion of cheese balanced the lack
of processed meats. So Zois makes
it easier to eat healthy !
A similar story for the Veggie Flor-
entine. Veggies give off more water
per item, but the Greek crust had a
firm and dry undercarriage and the
rim was crunchy and toast-like.
