"It is really rare that I am actually impressed by a restaurant but this was on a whole nother level. Indian food in southern California is absolutely trash. Literally watered down, soulless, flavorless. It's honestly sad. This is true north Indian treasure. Every spice, every speck of flavor that is supposed to be there shines bright like Surya. Both the Malai Kofta and the Saag Paneer are exceptional, my only gripe with the food itself is that the portions could be slightly larger. It took two entrees to really get me there, if you know what I mean. And the packaging is everything: the ONLY Indian restaurant I have tried in the ENTIRE state of California to use PAPER packaging and not the disgusting black plastic garbage dump that every single other place uses. California Classic Cheeseburger (1/4 lb): Pretty darned good, not great. A tad smaller than 1/4 lb., (maybe 1/4 before it was cooked). French Fries: Fries nothing special. Good but just average.
Again, staff wonderful. I ordered online for it to be ready in about 1hr. it was ready about 5 minutes early and I was pleasantly surprised as I sat in their parking lot. "I have yet to actually eat inside the restaurant, I just moved this area about six months ago and have been getting Porta Via on DoorDash, multiple times. They can't make a bad meal. Every single thing I have ordered from pasta, to their entrees, is always so solid, quality, tasty, clean, eating just great. Because I was placed on a type of medical diet for a bit, I ordered tonight the orange ginger, tofu stirfry and I had no idea how a place it excels it pasta would pull this off, but it's just nothing short of fantastic. It's so balanced in flavor, it's tastes fresh, and it hits all the flavor notes. It doesn't cross my mind to leave reviews usually, either way, but it occurred to me tonight. This is a special Place, and whoever the chefs are, and every employee there you can tell that everything is made with care, and those are the only businesses that are ever sustainable for any period of time.
