I love the food from Southern Comfort it tastes good every time we get it. You get what you pay for to be full after eating. I love the fried catfish hard and love the heck out of those hush puppies. We usually eat there 2x a week and sometimes more just like we did before Covid. I like larger hush puppies my only complaint.

From a lifelong resident of Castro Valley, SoCo is in my opinion by far the best place to get a quick meal with the most unique and flavorful menu. The food is amazing and a great value when you consider the consistently high quality. It seems like the staff takes a lot of pride in how the food is prepared and they give outstanding customer service. The entire menu is spectacular, but my favorites are the Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich, who'dat shrimp with crab fries, and chicken and sausage jambalaya.

I've ordered from here a couple times when I've REALLY had a taste for fried catfish. Being from the south, New Orleans and Baton Rouge specifically, previously I thought it was OK, it would suffice.
Tonight it was great... fresh, & fried perfectly, just as I asked. BUT, no side.
The cajun fries I chose as a side were not included. $22 for 4 fingerlings of fish!
I also decided to try what was called gumbo for the first time. If you've ever actually had gumbo, you know that this was not it. The roux was too thick, and had no actual "gumbo" flavor, with far too much rice. There was almost no recognizable chicken or sausage, with one or two very small shrimp. It didn't truly taste bad, but it wasn't true gumbo.
Since the fish was so good this time, I'm sure I will still try ordering again, and hopefully get my full order

I ordered the 50/50. The Shrimp were smaller than I thought they should be. Plus, there were 3 pieces of Cat Fish, one of them had big bones in it and the meat inside mushy/real soft. It didn't even taste like the other 2 pieces.For $20.00 I expected pieces to be better size wise.

The Jambalaya was not very good. extremely dry, not spicy, hardly any meat, and a very small portion size for the price. Definitely not made by someone from Louisiana. Ordered for delivery to a hotel and came with no utensils. Not even a small piece of bread came with the
