These aren't jumbo crabs, the are KING CRABS! As always, quality is unmatched. My go-to place when I want amazing crabs.

I absolutely love the food from Captain Pells. But I ordered fried oysters for the first time and for almost $20 I received 5 or 6 oysters. The portion was incredibly small for the price. I also paid $24 for jumbo shrimp and at least 5 of the shrimp could not be considered Jumbo. I wouldn't even consider them to be large. The taste was wonderful though. But the portions are very small.

All of the fried items were completely sealed in foil with no holes for steam to escape, which of course made everything limp and soggy. Rookie move. The scallops were very overcooked---so rubbery we threw out half of them. Lastly, the shrimp baskets only come with 9 shrimp, and many of them were not deveined.

I love their food! And even though good quality seafood is expensive they aren't even as expensive as some other restaurants. But their seafood is very good quality and healthy portions for the price. Always cooked to perfection!

Very good overall. The few points that could be improved, IMO: I found the tartar sauce a bit too tangy; It could benefit by being some milder. The crabcake filler could have been toned down just a shade. I would have preferred that the filler not be quite so lively, competing with the crab for attention. But those are the only things I would change. The 1 Dozen Mussels were fine. broiled scallops were excellent, as were the sweet, crunchy, and juicy corn on the cob, and the potato salad, which for my money, had exactly the right amount of tang. Perfect, if you ask me. If you haven't tried Cap'n Pell's, do it. If you've been there before, go again. They've always been good, but they've gotten better.
