I really loved the Kung Pao Chicken. Vegetables were fresh and crunchy. I would definitely order the Kung Pao Chicken again. The order came with white rice. Although the dumplings were large in size, they were overly greasy. Tasted like grease. Needed to drain more before placing them into then container to go. Crispy Pan Fried Pork Dumpling not so much.

My Crab Meat Rangoon were so hard they were almost inedible. The filling was also somehow dry. I've never had General Tso's Chicken that had white meat before, but now I have. The chunks were way too big and the and also a bit dry. Plain lo mein came with my order as well and it just had no flavor.

Im not sure what's going on, but it seems like none of the Chinese takeout places can make a good General Tso's Chicken - its never crispy and seems like it sat around in the sauce and wasnt cooked to order. You can tell because it isnt super hot even though my dasher had a warming bag. Their side rice also was pitiful, a small styrofoam container instead of a chinese takeout container like most places give. My broccoli also tasted kind of old. On top of all this they charge about 20 percent more than most places and for less chicken.

I've been looking for a good American-style Chinese restaurant since moving to the area over two years ago. I finally found it. China House on Shirlington Road is exceptional. Super fresh tasting, generous portions, just the right amount and taste of sauce. I've had, so far, the chicken and broccoli combo platter, the general tso's chicken, their egg rolls (I think they put cinnamon in them- unique but tastes very good), their shrimp lo mein, the crab rangoon, and the "spicy tangy wonton".
The only thing I didn't like was the spicy tangy wonton.
That aside, the food was great. The best general tso's I've had in the area, and as good as I've had everywhere- it was made with large pieces of white meat chicken, crispy (but not all fry batter) and with perfect sauce. The lo mein was super fresh and flavorful. The chicken and broccoli was as good as I've had anywhere.
