Chompie's corned beef is as good or better than any I had growing up in NJ/NJ. The same goes for the matzo ball soup. I try to get Chompie's when I get back to Phoenix after get hooked on it when we used to live in Arizona. Not an inexpensive meal, but this easily fed two. Well worth it, ita a true NY deli.

Chompies has great grilled liver and onions! It is under the Empire State Platter section of the menu. I was impressed with the amount of food that accompied the meal. The split pea soup reminded me of the soup my mother used to make by soaking peas overnight. The platter also came with the choice of mashed potatoes or potato pancakes as well as a roll, a large bagle crisp and green beans.

Grilled Liver & Onions^ it's a huge portion but the liver is so overcooked we had to make a thin gravy here at home, add the liver and onions & simmered until the liver sucked up a little juice. Then we made so thick gravy from the drippings. There's NO reason to turn good liver into shoe leather guys. If I'd been in the store, this would have been sent back as inedible. HOWEVER, the Chopped Liver^ was OMG good. I didn't like it with the onions but a bowl of those kalamata olives would have been amazing with it. The one they sent as a garnish was great! The challah rolls were amazing too.
My first time having matzah ball soup. The soup was nothing special, if anything it was too thin in chicken flavor, but I'll fix that with Better Than Bouillion, so no worries. The Deluxe Grilled Ham^ was good. Bread was the best part, I'll say adding grilled tomatoes is such a southern thing it was like being back home in Alabama.

I ordered the matzo ball soup because I wasn't feeling well. It was good but there wasn't a lot of chicken in it. I'll likely not order their "mile high" NYC sandwiches again. I ordered a Turkey | Half thinking that would be plenty for just me. It was not mile high and the side of potato salad that came with it was in a condiment cup. While tasty, it was not worth the price tag and I'll continue my search for a true NYC/Jewish type deli here in Phoenix.

Rueben | Pastrami^ bread soaked in butter to the point it was greasy, oh and the pastrami was crazy greasy as well. I just don't get it, for how much I paid for this sandwich, it should be perfect! The potato salad was good, pickles were literally soggy, no crunch, WILD!!
