I was here for work in a training program at JIBC. Before last night I had never eaten here as this is only my 2nd time in New West (last time was 4.5 years ago!). I had the Louisiana Shrimp, Tacos and a side of coleslaw last night and the portions were so big I still have half the shrimp and 2 of the 3 tacos left to take home with me tomorrow. Tonight I tried the cod burger and a side of fries with their homemade tartar. I immediately sent photos to my husband (just like last night because I was so impressed with the portion and delicious crisp fish!) and he begged me to bring him home a halibut burger. I placed another order through Door dash with using the "comment" asking if possible for them to throw the veg and coleslaw in a dish and the tartar as well as I was taking this back to my husband in Port Hardy who I had been raving about their food to for the past 2 nights. Not only did they put the hali in it's own wrap, they put a slice of tomato and the lettuce in 2 separate small paper bags, gave us a whole side of tartar, a whole side of coleslaw AND put the bun separately in the little bag as well so that it wouldn't get soggy. Knowing I wasn't a regular they didn't have to go above and beyond like this but they absolutely did! All 3 times I've ordered they also took the time to write thank you and my name (this last time drawing a few cute fishes as well! lol) If I'm ever in town again I will 100% be back and will absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone I know who will be in the area!

The Coleslaw came all spilling out over the sides of the container and there wasn't even that much in there considering it was over $5. some of the Malt Vinegar was missing from our order which was disappointing. The Snapper (1pc)& chips the fish was overcooked and chewy, and the fries were a bit soggy. The Coleslaw was delicious but that's not enough for me to order here again.

Wow. It has genuinely been decades since I've had such wonderful fish and chips!2(pc) Cod and chips -crisp and incredibly flavorful.Coleslaw- fresh and obviously not 'we buy bags of unhappy shredded cabbage and throw Miracle Whip at it'.Mushy Peas Small (8oz) -WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!? Seriously this is the ultimate comfort food. Portions are large, they're not stingy with condiments... these folks care about food. ❤️

As always the food was great. I was a little worried about the shrimp being too spicy, but thankfully it's the sauce that has the kick not the shrimp itself. The fries were equally delicious and even good as left overs.

It's gotta be a top 3 Fish n Chips place in the lower mainland, and with these prices, they can't be beat.
the quality of the fish is considerably lowered when ordered as delivery, but that is not to the fault of the restaurant as its just science. steam is moisture. and the breading gets a bit soggy.
