My only complaint is you only get a fraction of the injera you'd get in person, but you still pay the same menu price, doesn't seem right. And it's not really enough injera for the entree. :/
Food is solid tho , better than Ethiopian in Temescal tbh.

My favorite restaurant. The veggy platter is delicious! And the desserts are really outstanding. And the chef and staff are all wonderful, too. I'm so grateful you made it through the covid shutdowns.

2 stars instead of 1 because I've ordered from Mela's in the past and I remember enjoying the vibrant colors and the gluten free desert options. I haven't had it for about a year even though I order Ethiopian often and couldn't remember why.
Ordered today and some of the food in the Mela’s Vegetarian Platter smelled and tasted sour. Definitely the carrots, but one of the other items as well. and now I'm vaguely remembering that I stopped ordering because the last time I had the same issue with some of the items tasting off.
I was disappointed because I was waiting for the restaurant to open all day and couldn't even eat my main dish. also ordered the Lentil Turmeric which was a little salty, but good... and the Beets and almond Cake which was dry and unremarkable but I still ate it.
I decided to call and let them know and the person who answered the phone just said "sour? oh really? sorry. we'll fix next time you order." No offer to replace, refund or resolve.

The Shiro Wot was watery and less tasty than other places nearby. The injera was very sour and flavorless.

I love mela bistro! But both times I've ordered their veggie tibs, I've been disappointed. The portion is way too small given the price and the veggie tibs were lacking enough mushroom :(
