Southern cuisine in the heart of LaFayette. We offer an array of classic Southern dishes from chicken and waffles to homemade meatloaf- right down to the best bread pudding you've ever had.
This is our first time ordering from Ray's Southern Cuisine. The Reuben Sandwich , Fried Fish Plate, Potato Salad, Fried Green Tomotoes and Pintos were delicious! The 8 Wings and Chicken & Waffle were the best had in a long time. The taste of the the food was reminiscent to traditional, down home, southern country cooking that takes me back to yester year, which is difficult to find nowadays. The okra was fried perfectly but had too much salt, the collards were a bit hard, and the Meatloaf was burnt. We were missing our Keylime Cheesecake. Overall, it's good food and we'll definitely try it again! Nice to have another local restaurant that emphasizes on southern favorites at an affordable price. We wish you all great success! The chicken wings are top notch! Cooked and sauced perfectly. We have ordered three different flavors so far and all will be reordered in the near future. The flaming honey garlic profile is a must try. The combination of these flavors are very well balanced. Thumbs up as always.

Hamburger - Hard to mess up a good burger and these guys got it right. I can see why it's such a popular item. The crinkle fries had a grocery store freezer quality to them, but I wasn't bothered - they did their job just fine.
Grilled chicken alfredo - Has a nice homemade quality to it, and the chicken tastes alright but that's where the positives stop, unfortunately. It had a hard-to-describe almost synthetic flavor to it like it came out of a really cheap sealed bag. The serving size was pretty pitiful in comparison to other places you can get this dish for the same price and at much better quality. Also, when I reheated it it was absolutely swimming in a pool of oil and grease. Never again.
Hushpuppies - The best you can get for a dollar - nicely sized, cooked, and filled. Highly recommend!
4 veggies - The Mac, mash, broccoli, and slaw were all pretty great. My only complaint is the slaw - the sides come in these small, covered containers which given their size you'd expect to be filled all the way which all were except for the slaw, strangely. It was pathetically bunched in one little corner and there was enough for maybe two small bites or half a large bite. It also had the same, off-putting synthetic taste the Alfredo did.
Corn Bread - Their cornbread is top notch and I could eat a basket of it.
Corn Nuggets - Sadly I never received those so no thoughts here other than disappointment.
8 Wings - The wings were exceptional - large, meaty, and just kicked me in the face with flavor. I do kind of wish they weren't swimming in sauce but that actually helped in the reheating process.
Lemonade - It's Minute Maid Lemonade, y'all. If you've had it you know it's good.

This was my first time ordering from Rays! I had the Chicken & Waffles. The waffle was fluffy, warm, and had just the right amount of sweetness! The chicken was very well seasoned and juicy! The praline cookie w/ icecream was out of this world!!!

I appreciated this veggie plate order. The vegetables were not over cooked. The collards, yams, & beans all still had a great bite to them. The Mac-n-cheese noodles were al-dente. Nothing was dripping or covered in butter but just seasoned. The cornbread was baked perfectly and sweetened. The way food should be treated! Thank you so much for that.
