This is one of the best restaurants I've ever visited, hands down. I came to visit Oakland for a work trip, and during my stay I found myself coming back to Shooting Star Cafe well over four times in a two day period. Each time I got something different, and every item was delicious, refreshing, and made me want to keep coming back. In particular I loved their lychee sago bowl with mixed fruit, and all of their drinks were exactly what I was hoping for.

We had several dishes that were delicious. Pork Spareribs Clay Pot Rice / 㰖角排骨煲仔飯 had great flavors with Bok Choy and bowl full of rice, too much rice. Shredded Pork Pan Fried Noodle / 肉絲煎麵arrived with pan noodles on separate container. Shredded pork could also be great as a soup dish! Combination Meat Chow Mein / 雜錦炒麵was ok nothing special and almost lacked that wholesome flavor for authentic chinese food. Fried Prawns / 炸蝦was cooked perfectly and tasted great! Popcorn Chicken / 鹽酥雞 was seasoned well! Beef Chow Fun / 乾炒牛河 was surprisingly very good with good flavors. Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings / 椒鹽雞中翼 were ok and our least favorite, very oily and arrived soggy.

I love beef stew egg noodles and they used to make it very tasty and fresh. Now all I taste is Super salty and the beef is hard and taste like overnight. The broth is just veggie and soy sauce with a lot of salt. I have 3 stars because of the egg noodle. Btw, the portion is way less than before and the price has been increased a lot.

I got the Egg Rolls / 炸春卷, Mongolian Beef / 蒙古牛肉 , Sautéed Chinese Broccoli with Wine / 糖酒炒芥蘭 , and Sesame Rice Balls / 芝麻湯圓. They were absolutely amazing.
