I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious Southern-style chicken, greens and grits dinner. The flavors and textures of this meal perfectly captured the comfort and heartiness of classic Southern cooking.
The chicken was juicy and tender, with crispy browned skin and a perfect blend of savory herbs and spices in the breading. It was fried to crispy perfection without being the least bit greasy. The meat was moist and fell right off the bone.
The collard greens had a wonderful earthy, slightly bitter flavor that was balanced by the rich, smoky meat they were cooked with. They had a velvety texture and absorbed the flavorful pot likker they were simmered in.
The grits were creamy and buttery, with just the right amount of coarse ground texture. They had a wonderfully corny, wholesome flavor.
Everything on the plate worked together in perfect harmony. The richness of the chicken, the deep flavors of the greens, and the comforting creaminess of the grits was a match made in Southern cooking heaven. I sopped up every last drop of the pot likker with my grits to get the full experience.
This was truly an exceptional example of classic down-home Southern cuisine. The chef clearly used high-quality ingredients and took the time to perfectly execute each component. I left feeling satisfied to my soul and eager to return again soon to this little taste of Southern comfort.

The chicken is some of the best fried chicken I have had. The gumbo is good, but the serving size is small. I ordered a bowl, and there was a big scoop of rice in the middle and less than an inch deep of the gumbo. I have ordered it 3 times... too small of an amount for a "bowl" for the price they are charging. Overall, it's good food, but it is too high priced for the amount of food you get.

As an Asheville (NC) local visiting Irving, TX, I was excited to find that Tupelo Honey had a location here. I ordered the Asheville Hot with Mac-N-Cheese Waffles* along with the Cast Iron Pimento Cheese Dip and it's every bit as good as I hoped it would be. Nashville hot, ranch and pickles were served on the side, so chicken arrived crispy. I've now eaten at Tupelo Honey in my hometown of Asheville, in Denver Colorado and now Irving Texas. It slaps every time!

My family and I enjoyed our meal. The Andouille Red Beans & Rice (GF) was seasoned just right and Half Bird - Fried Chicken fried just right. Make sure order is correct before preparation. I did not receive the collards.

The standout items were the Heavenly Banana Pudding 16oz (serves 2) and the onion rings! Everything was really good but I wish the Fried Pickles* had been just a tad less salty.
