"A couple of years ago I left an average review for Robert Earl's. In a rare occurrence I actually had the owner reach out to me and offer a free meal upon my return, which instantly made me a fan because it says how important a customer centric experience is to his business.
I felt bad that I live in Sacramento and hadn't had a chance to return to Robert Earl's in a significant amount of time but I was committed to returning based upon the owners desire to satisfy a customer.
In full transparency, I didn't accept the free meal offered by the owner (I sincerely appreciated the jesture) as I didn't want it to in any way impact my review. I'm happy I returned, it wasn't only good it was EXCELLENT!! The ribs and the rib-tips were cooked to perfection, VERY tender and favorable. The sauce is sweet with a hint of heat which is excellent as it doesn't overpower the flavor of the meat. The Greens were tender, the bake beans were good and didn't taste like they had soaked in the restaurants BBQ sauce. But the real star is, as it should be, the BBQ!! Everything else after that is a bonus!!
I HIGHLY recommend Robert Earl's, and will ALWAYS make an effort to eat there whenever I'm in Southern, Ca.

"I always order a slab or more of pork Slab of Ribs every week for myself . I have learned that the ribs are much more delicious without BBQ sauce. They are seasoned thru and thru. and tender to the bone. The Mac and cheese is better than grandmas.
I often give food gifts of BBQ from Johnson's. This Father's Day, both of my sons requested Johnson's Brothers barbecue as their gifts and they were able to enjoy BBQ the entire weekend without having to be the cooks. "The food was sooo flavorful everything on my plate was yummy! The Mac and rice was slightly mushy but it taste so good I didn't mind. One plate is enough to feed 2 people or have some for later. Will definitely order again. "
"I had great expectations based off recent reviews. I spent over $70 on oxtails, mac and cheese, yams, Turkey chops, Red beans/rice, greens and Peach Cobbler. To say that the food was over salted is an understatement. I could not tell if the greens had too much vinegar, too much salt, or a combo of both. The Mac was salty and with not much flavor, not to mention cold in the middle. The rice was soft and mushy. Ox tails were ok, nothing special. No comment on the red beans and rice, as I did not have them. The peach cobbler was really not good at all. The crust was a flavorless blob and the peaches very hard. $10 is steep for such a small container, unless it is bowl licking good. Hate to leave a bad review, but perhaps ownership will make the necessary adjustments to keep their business going, and not lose customers who make conscious decisions where they spend their discretionary dollars. "

The fresh baked biscuits with the apple butter never disappoints. I've been enjoying Lucille's Smoke House Long Beach,CA since they opened in 1999 not much has changed, except added menu entrees and the prices to keep up with times. "I had ordered a meal for 2 and it gave me a good portion of burnt pork belly ends but a small piece of ribs for 1 person. I ordered a side a Mac and cheese for 2 and they gave a small portion for 1 person. I ordered fries that could be shared and it's decent. They gave me 2 salads when I ordered one. A ton of chips with little bit of cheese sauce. I would not recommend ordering here at all. Bad service because we had to wait extra time for our order and overall just not a pleasant meal."
