"Everything was phenomenal!! The seasonings were so good, the smokes on the meats were perfect, and the portions were very generous in my opinion. The bbq sauce was amazing too, complimenting all the meats really well. He makes everything in house from the sides to the sauce and you can definitely tell. Speaking of the sides I was shocked at how good they were!! Easily the best mac and cheese I've had so far, it was so thick and cheesy. And the potato salad is exactly how I like it. Everything was just right, not too much or too little of anything. You can tell he uses quality meats and ingredients too, this was the first bbq places I've gone to that I don't feel weighed down and tired after getting full. "I'm a native Texan who has traveled all over the country and compared my favorite Texas BBQs to other state's BBQ. I am a huge fan of HEB, but the BBQ we received today was some of the most disappointing I have ever eaten. The lean brisket and turkey were each a slab of dry, chewy meat. The Cole slaw had a chemical aftertaste (soap?). The potato salad was a strange mixture of flavors including mustard powder instead of using real egg-based mayo or liquid mustard. The Mac and cheese used a bland white cheese making it meh. The cornbread and honey butter were more like corn cake with icing. The sweet BBQ sauce was brown sugar water.
We did like the Sidewinder Fries , but those are just thick potatoes with sea salt and not "True Texas BBQ".
I was originally excited that a new HEB opened near my house with BBQ...but none of us who ate from there today are interested in eating there again considering how many options we have for actual Texas BBQ in the area."

Today I ordered Egg Drop soup which is much heartier than typical Americanized Chinese food (it has a sweet corn broth thats really special.
