"Don't get me wrong in my prior review. My issue is only in the description on the menu and the way in which the new handlers of the restaurant as well as doordash customer service handled the situation. The chicken itself, as well as price, are delicious and reasonable. The chicken is fried, then covered in a wonderful sauce, I actually need jarred. It's tender and juicy and falls right off the bone. It beats KFC down the street. 😋 2days in a row. Worth having everybody 😉20 Stars Hands Down Easily!"
"Egwusi soup and pounded yam is very wholesome and rich and nutritious, and especially delicious! it was eaten before I got a picture, sorry. 😆 Third time I've gotten it, before with fish and then with chicken. Today it was with oxtail, and that's tender and smoky and also tasty. Had some nice fried plantain on the side, those are always good. I'll for sure order here again and recommend the food here to Friends. Thank you!"
Egwusi Soup & Fufu (contains a little bit of crayfish flavor)
Egwusi soup is made with sun-dried and ground melon seeds, which give it a thick, chunky, fragrant, and boldly flavored stew that clings to every bite. Cooked with a little bit of non-cholestrol palm oil, peppers, traditional spices, and herbs, and little bit of crayfish flavor. It is served with fresh spinach, an optional meat or fish choice and pounded yam (fufu).

"Veggie/Meat Combo was great"
"I'm surprised at the negative reviews the portions were appropriate for the price and the injera was really delicious and a good amount. I ordered two portions of injera and had leftovers for two days. The red lentils was really really good 10/10 perfect blend of spices. The yellow lentils, gomen and cabbage were regular but tasty although the yellow lentils were a little dry like they needed just a little more water but overall very delicious and has home cooked taste."

" I've had the veggie platter at all the restaurants in Berkeley in Oakland area. I think this one might be the best most flavorful one.
I don't like the plastic packaging really hope they can switch to something compostable in the future, but sometimes that can be difficult for preserving the quality during travel and I get that "

"My family has been eating here for over 15 years. The best and fresh made Doro Tibsy and Kitfo with more than enough for seconds! Would highly recommend."
"I ordered the house 18. House Special Sampler and the peach Peach Cream as my beverage. It was interesting how they packaged the food, with several large pieces of injera on top, completely covering the food, instead of neatly rolled separately as pictured in some of their pictures. I did have to remove it and put it to the side in order to actually get to the main food. Otherwise, I would've had to eat most of the injera on its own, before being able to actually eat the food. The injera itself had an interesting taste to it, and not in a positive way. It was tasteless and yet also had that aforementioned taste. The 18. House Special Sampler I found to be rather bland, and the potatoes and cabbage were huge chunks. The potatoes didn't seem to be fully cooked as it had some hard parts to it. The only one that seemed to have some kind of flavor to it was the alicha. While it was my first time trying this, it just wasn't for me. Thus, I doubt that I'll order again."

"Ordered Braised Oxtails for my uncle and I. We both had enough food for at least two meals. The flavor was absolutely perfect. I had black-eyed peas and cabbage, which were both beyond what I expected. My uncle RAVED about the Candied Yams. I will definitely be ordering again."
"Combo 4 was good! The shrimp and chicken were well seasoned, and the shrimp were battered and fried perfectly. The sole could use more seasoning since it’s a mild fish, but I’d still order the combo again.
The oxtails came with only three small pieces and needed more flavor—some salt, garlic powder, or onion powder would help. My sides were mac and cheese and yams, but the to-go compartments weren’t filled, so the portions felt small for $52.
Overall, I’d get Combo 4 again, especially for the shrimp!"

"Asmara is our favorite restaurant we've been eating here since they opened and it's such a treat! We love everything we've ordered and usually get the combos to get some of everything, they're such huge generous portions. This time we got the Meat Combination s and it is delicious! So fresh and flavorful, savory and spicy, so much food this will feed me for a few days. The injera (sorry if I spelled it wrong) is so perfect and soaks up all the sauces it's the best thing when you're done with everything to finish the meal off yum!!!
The salad and potatoes that come with it really go well with All the spices and help balance it out I'm in heaven! Yay!!! We love you Asmara thank you for taking care of us always :) <3"

"I ordered the Beef Tibsy & Okra , the Shewhat Vegan Sample and the Taita (Injera) This is the best Ethiopian food I have had in a while. The food was flavorful and delicious!Good portion sizes and the food arrived hot. I highly recommend!!!"
"I really wanted this food to be tasty for the price that they charged ($25 for a veggie plate)! It was the worst Ethiopian food the I've ever eaten! The yellow lentils were soupy and hard! There was no salad! When the food arrived it was leaking out of the container! The cabbage was too crunchy! The red lentils were too salty and very soupy! Wow! That about covers it! I would not recommend this place to anyone!"

VERY FRIENDLY, KIND & HELPFUL owner = GREAT service & very SPACIOUS cafe! Also, their MOCHA & LATTE are each, respectively EXCELLENT!!!"
"Ethiopian Breakfast Combo was not worth the amount for a combo breakfast given the very little portion size. The tropical smoothie, avocado toast, and the Bagel with Green Onion Cream Cheese were great. The Ethiopian Breakfast Combo and Enkulal Firfir did not have any butter at all. These dishes need kibe (authentic Ethiopian butter.)"

"LISTEN UP PEOPLE LOOKING FOR REAL CARIBBEAN OR JAMAICAN FOOD. I'm from NYC and have truly been suffering without any jamaican food even close to being correct in the Bay. This place is the closest that delivers. Period. I have tried them all. The Oxtail Stew tastes the closest to correct and stew has the closest to the right consistency that you will find in this region (on a delivery app, at least). Is it perfect? No. Could it be better? Yes. But it is so much better than any other oxtail I've had in the Bay. It's generally trimmed correctly, tender, doesnt have a weird gamey taste, and the stew isnt broth or oily as fuck or filled with vegetables for no reason. For whatever reason, they serve the oxtail with white rice generally and they dont sell rice and peas as a side. Today, i received rice and peas with the oxtail but that's generally not the case even though i never check the white rice option. The Jerk Chicken Rice & Beans is okay but I generally get that mainly so I can have the oxtail with rice and peas like its supposed to be. The patty is good and flaky!! Anyway, def try them out!!"
"I ordered the Oxtail Stew and Ginger Beer. Not only was the stew missing any heat, it was also missing the flavor. It was easy to eat the meat off the bone because there wasn't much meat there. The plantain wasn't dry, but it wasn't sweet either. Thankfully, the rice tasted like rice. Ginger Beer had less kick than a dead donkey. And who is Theodore P? And why is it labeled a "Lemon Sherbet"?"

"This was my first time not only trying Filipino food, but also food from this restaurant. It was definitely a hit for me with both the Pancit Bihon w/ Chicken and Shanghai Lumpia (Chicken). Both were large, generous portions, to the point where I was not even able to finish it. I especially loved the Shanghai Lumpia (Chicken) which wwte just the right size and really smooth and easy to go down. A really tasty treat. For the Pancit Bihon w/ Chicken, while also really great, I wish it had a little more spice to it, just a little kick or something. I understand that's how it's made, so I ended up adding some crushed trees pepper to it (that I happed to have). I may use another hot sauce next time just to help bring out more of the flavor. But overall, I really liked it and will be ordering again from here with no hesitation!"
"Filipino food here is consistently good! Tender meat in stews. Sinigang is flavored nicely - not too salty or sour with the tamarind. Delivered steaming and hot. Bilo bilo is excellent! One of our favorite Filipino restaurants in the East Bay!"

"Ordered the birria wet burrito. Was missing guacamole, sour cream, cheese, and pico de gallo inside despite the description on the menu. Was topped with unmelted cheese and raw red onions and a little sour cream. Flavors were a bit bland and slightly sweet, no tang and barely any spice--not at all what I expected. Birria was okay but on the dry side and just tasted like shredded beef cooked in cinnamon. Burrito had black beans inside but I expected pinto or refried based on pics of other burritos on the menu, and the description didn't mention black beans. Paid over $20 for something I wouldn't have ordered at all if ingredients were described accurately. I know it's hard right now for restaurants but I do feel a little swindled :("

"This food was amazing! Compared to other places, I really appreciated that they didn’t skimp on the meat just because it was a salad. Everything was warm, flavorful, and super filling. If you’re choosing between the add-ons, I’d especially recommend the sweet potatoes or pineapple!"

"Fulfilling a craving of authentic Jamaican food. I could only really compare the dishes to a friend's Jamaican food and restaurants we tried in Florida. Definitely fall off the bone jerk chicken and the oxtail had great flavors! I originally ordered the white rice but they ran out. The clerk removed it from my order and asked for me to reorder the substitute I requested which was the rice and peas. But since I ordered later in the evening, DoorDash wouldn't allow me to order saying they were closed. I believe the manager Kevin said it would be on the house. So thankful for a great first experience! The rice and peas were a hit! Packed with flavor!! Anyone ordering just white rice is missing out!"

"Food was fresh. The Chicken Shish Kabab Plate had decent portions but the chicken was dry and tough to eat. Our side Salads were tasty; wish there were more pita chips with it.
