The Kee Mao ("Drunken Noodle"), I always have high hopes for them but this was inoffensively mid: if the owner of Teak hadn't taken to arguing with customers on Yelp I would certainly recommend that place as an alternative even with the price difference. The portions were slightly smaller than expected. I would order again, maybe see if the curries deliver; plus I've lived here my whole life life and have never been able to figure out if the other two Thai restaurants in Red Bank are open. "Chicken biryani was much spicier than expected, with no mention of spice level on the menu. For $17, the portion was overwhelmingly rice-heavy, with only 2 drumsticks and a very small piece of breast, which felt like poor value. The rice was also noticeably oily.
The overall experience was made worse by poor communication. When I called the listed number, there was no introduction of the business, and I had to say hello multiple times before getting a response.
On top of that, the order had to be reassigned after a driver left without the food, which added to the confusion and delay. While that may not be entirely on the restaurant, it reflects a lack of coordination.
Even small details were disappointing—the utensils provided were extremely small and impractical.
Overall, this was a frustrating experience from start to finish. Between the lack of clarity, poor value, and communication issues, I would not order again—especially with better halal options in the area."
