"We ordered the biscuits and gravy Country Skillet. And the 16. Stuffed French Toast. The biscuits and gravy came and had two eggs on top. It looked ok I suppose wasn't sure what to expect because there really wasn't a description on doordash except biscuits and gravy skillet. But when my husband cut into the eggs he realized then that the entire meal was literally just a soupy watered down bowl of gravy. Inedible. There was only one tiny flat hardened biscuit cut in half floating in the bottom of the mess. Surprised it was still soft since it was floating in gravy water.
My husband had to toss the whole thing.
I ordered the 16. Stuffed French Toast and it was just French toast with a couple of globs of unsweetened cream cheese dispersed on top with strawberries thrown in. I've never had stuffed French toast made like this with just plain cream cheese not made into a filling (cream cheese, vanilla, powdered sugar). I had to scrape it off and just ate the regular French toast. $15+ for each of these meals.
Won't ever be ordering from here again. Who do they have preparing this food and why do they think this is ok to serve especially at these prices?"

Semi pros: Chicken 65 gets about as close as any local place as to the sublime chicken 65 from Pre-Covid Haldi Chowk (the current place seems to be different owners).
Decent: Chicken Dum Biryani passable and generously portioned.
Big con: most expensive item on the menu, the Sea & Sea & Sand Signature Murg Mussallam absolute disaster: sauce broken, chicken overcooked to the point of being dry dispite sitting in broken sauce. Just a big whiff. Might have been rescued with a standard rice serving but unfortunately this place has chosen the single cheapest item as the place to economize on their most expensive item: less than a cup of rice was provided, far less than any other place in the area.
Would order again? Yes pakoras. No entrees."

"We sampled their menu via takeout - The reasons I find this to be some of the best Indian food in Monmouth County right now is that they don’t add sugar to everything, they don’t skimp on traditional spices, and it’s clean on the palate, meaning even the fried options are not greasy. When the food is prepared with respect, it shows. I don’t understand some other reviews - our portions were generous, and for an average price we had plenty of leftovers. The samosa chaat street food blew our minds there was so much goodness going on, the variety in texture, temperature, taste was all there - and I was delighted to find a paneer biryani - something most Indian restaurants don’t bother to offer. I’m a traditionalist - I’m always happy to find whole cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, plums and tamarind in my biryanis. Even the side dish of jasmine rice is tasty. Makes we want to go back and try the desserts. I would compare the food of Taj to the upscale Indian restaurant in Red Bank, Bombay River, with more options and not as expensive. Just a delight.
